There is one more super important thing left for us to do as a group before we head to Belize:
We have been supported by John Knox throughout our prep process, and the final piece is our commissioning.
What is commissioning you ask? Webster’s defines commissioning as:
” the authority to act for, in behalf of, or in place of another”
We are going to serve in Belize as missionaries from John Knox Presbyterian Church, and we are going to serve on behalf of the congregation. Here is what you need to know for Sunday:
9:30 am– Arrive at John Knox-Meet in the Youth Center. There will be a
service already going on, so be aware of your noise level.
9:45 am– We will be going into the service to get commissioned.
10:15 am– We are having a short parent/student meeting to go over final
details including our housing arrangements, spending money, packing lists,
10:45 am 2nd service- we will attend the 2nd service and then be
commissioned at the end of that service.
Please plan on staying for the whole time. This has been on our schedule since November, so you have had plenty of time to rearrange work schedules, etc…
As a bonus, the new pastor for JK will be preaching that morning, so we have the added benefit of being part of that.
If you have any questions, please ask them.
