Hello again from Belize!
Sunday is our day of rest. We spent it driving up the New River by boat to Lamanai, a Mayan ruin city. During the trip, it started to rain. I guess what I am saying is that the heavens opened up and it literally dumped buckets on us, which made for an adventurous trip. It was actually quite fun. The rain let up in time for us to climb the ruins and learn about the Maya culture.
We made it back for church, and after dinner we had service together with the congregation of El Buen Pastor. It was a good service, and the rain brought in cool air, which was such a blessing for church.
Today had been another good day of work and ministry. We have a few students working with Joe Klover tearing out and rebuilding walls for a woman in the church. The other students and leaders from El Buen Pastor worked on painting shutter style windows, doors and the interior and exterior walls of the the two new homes, which are close to being completed. They will be completed tomorrow.
The group from Fe y Amor worked on painting the new Sunday School rooms, doors and windows. They too are nearing completion. It will be completed tomorrow as well.
Our group has worked so hard that we are trying to find enough projects to keep us busy tomorrow. There is so much need here, that I am sure it will not be too difficult.
Both groups are busy running VBS, loving kids, running, chasing, holding, playing and laughing with them. It is really quite a sight to see.
We are all healthy, and looking forward to our final work day in Belize.
I will try to keep you posted.
